i wish i could find someone to help me with my hair, i gave up on it after losing my mom a couple years back and now my hair is matted from the front to the back and i tried to take it out but gave up on it my mom would be turning in her grave if she seen it , im a big train wreck of a mess and dont know what to do.

To the white, Hispanic, and asian women comb or brush your hair daily or every other day. Seriously. Ask a friend or family member if you need help. Use much more conditioner if your hair is prone to tangling.

Oh I am so guilty of going to bed with a wet head. Oops. I detangle my hair in the shower after adding conditioner and that’s helped immensely as I have very long straight hair. Should I use a bonnet?

Depression and denial of self-worth can cause a person to try and remove themselves from the rest of the world. Some people can overcome these challenges in life through medications, focus on self, enlisting that one special person in their lives who can become a sounding board. You are a combination of all of these things and it shows in your determination to fix the world even if it is one person at a time. Such encouragement and for that, I thank you.

My hair got pretty bad like this when I was in 4th grade. And the entire time my mom and an acquaintance tried to detangle it, they were yelling at me for allowing it to get like that, and my dad was so disappointed because he didn't want them to cut my hair. I didn't get how it happened, and while I had a bad habit of not brushing my hair often, I put it in braids every time I went to bed and it was never tangled. Mom even brought the chunk with us to the hair dressers when I needed to get my hair evened out. I wish we had found you years ago, or someone like you years ago (because this was 12 years ago). Because now I can't even allow myself to keep long hair, any time it gets past my shoulders I impulsively cut my hair short because I never want to deal with someone cutting a huge chunk out of my hair. And it sucks because I'm the only one in my family who had curls. And now all my curls are gone. I can't begin to express how happy I am that someone else didn't have to deal with what I went through, and how much you lift them up. It's a lovely thing to watch, and I'm so glad people have a girl like you to help them out.

Self care is beyond important. When you are connected to Life and respect it, that is one of the first things that you will learn. Of course there are bumpy roads along the way, but consciousness and consistency will never fail you. One’s body, mind, hair …..just overall self is beyond conscious and will aid you in ways that your being collectively is use to you practicing.

Doesn't making it wet make it more tangled than before? I would think it would be easier to tackle it without wetting the "ball". It is known that mats tighten if you get it wet.

My daughter is going through this right now. I'm working with her to wash, detangle, and then do two strand twists so, in the future, if she doesn't keep her hair up, she'll just have beautiful locs. ❤😊
